Alan Parsons Live Project – Velòdrom Illes Balears (Palma de Mallorca, 23 de junio de 2026)

La gira del 50.º aniversario de Tales of Mystery and Imagination hizo parada en el Velòdrom Illes Balears de Palma de Mallorca el 23 de junio de 2026, en una noche donde la elegancia sonora y la excelencia interpretativa volvieron a ser las señas de identidad de Alan Parsons y su banda. El recinto, transformado para la ocasión en un auditorio, ofreció un entorno ideal para disfrutar de un espectáculo concebido para escuchar cada detalle con la máxima nitidez.

Más que una sucesión de grandes éxitos, el concierto rindió homenaje a la obra que dio origen a una de las trayectorias más brillantes del rock progresivo: Tales of Mystery and Imagination (1976). Medio siglo después de su publicación, Alan Parsons recuperó en directo buena parte de aquella joya conceptual inspirada en los relatos de Edgar Allan Poe, interpretando con enorme fidelidad piezas tan emblemáticas como A Dream Within a Dream, The Raven, The Tell-Tale Heart, The Cask of Amontillado, (The System of) Dr. Tarr and Professor Fether, The Fall of the House of Usher y To One in Paradise. La narración introductoria de Orson Welles y la atmósfera oscura y teatral envolvieron al público en un viaje musical tan evocador como emocionante.

La noche en la que el Teatro Romano se rindió a Edgar Allan Poe

Crónica del Señor X para Fresh and Alive

Hay conciertos que se escuchan. Otros se viven. Y muy pocos consiguen quedarse contigo para siempre. Lo que ocurrió el 28 de junio de 2026 en el Teatro Romano de Mérida pertenece a esa última categoría.

Cuando crucé las puertas del recinto y contemplé las columnas iluminadas por la noche extremeña, tuve la sensación de que aquel escenario había estado esperando medio siglo para recibir Tales of Mystery and Imagination. No podía existir un lugar más apropiado para que la música de Alan Parsons se fundiera con la historia y con el misterio.

La introducción de "May Be a Price to Pay" marcó el inicio de una velada impecable. "Standing on Higher Ground" terminó de encender al público antes de que llegara el momento que todos esperábamos: la interpretación íntegra del álbum que cambió para siempre la forma de entender el rock sinfónico.

Durante más de una hora, el Teatro Romano dejó de ser un monumento para convertirse en el escenario de los relatos de Edgar Allan Poe. "A Dream Within a Dream", "The Raven", "The Tell-Tale Heart", "The Cask of Amontillado", "(The System of) Dr. Tarr and Professor Fether", "The Fall of the House of Usher" y "To One in Paradise" sonaron con una precisión extraordinaria, envueltas por una acústica que parecía hecha a medida para esta obra.

Miraba a mi alrededor y veía miles de rostros completamente absortos. Nadie hablaba. Nadie quería romper la magia. En esos momentos entiendes por qué algunos conciertos dejan de ser simples actuaciones para convertirse en experiencias irrepetibles.

La recta final fue una auténtica celebración de la trayectoria de Alan Parsons. "Damned If I Do", "Prime Time", "Eye in the Sky" y el inevitable cierre con "Games People Play" hicieron que todo el teatro se levantara para despedir a una banda en estado de gracia.

Como Señor X, he tenido la fortuna de asistir a cientos de conciertos durante décadas. He visto actuaciones históricas, festivales inolvidables y reuniones que jamás pensé que llegarían a producirse. Pero confieso que aquella noche en Mérida tuvo algo diferente. No fue solo la música. Fue el lugar, la celebración del cincuenta aniversario de un disco inmortal y esa extraña sensación de estar viviendo un momento que, con el paso del tiempo, acabará formando parte de la historia.

Por eso quise dejar constancia de esta noche para todos los seguidores de Fresh and Alive. Porque algunos conciertos merecen ser recordados, y otros merecen ser contados. Este pertenece, sin ninguna duda, a ambas categorías.
